Factors Affecting Your Health


People who are emotionally healthy are in control of their emotions and their behavior. They are able to handle life’s challenges, build strong relationships, and recover from setbacks. But just as it requires effort to build or maintain physical health, so it is with mental and emotional health. Improving your emotional health can be a rewarding experience, benefiting all aspects of your life, including boosting your mood, building resilience, and adding to your overall enjoyment of life.


You must also avoid the various attacks or threats to your health. Genetic weaknesses, injuries and losses may cause malfunctioning of some organs. Compensation may often make up for injuries or losses such that the functioning is almost as designed. A major concern in health relates to healing damage done to the various parts.


Balancing your diet:


We all know the feeling: you just get home from work/school/college, you're tired and starving. Two choices await you. Either you can spend time chopping up vegetables to make a salad or you can order in a pizza. No contest is there?

Well, maybe you ought to consider having a salad with your pizza because your body needs a diet that contains the right mix of nutrients to stay fit and healthy.

Nutrition:


Your body requires proper food and water to survive and grow. In general, people seem to be able to tell what foods their bodies need to function properly and to be healthy.

Unfortunately, there are foods that can be harmful but yet fool the brain in saying they are good for you. An extreme example of this are addictive drugs. But there are also salty, fatty, and sugary food that both humans and animals love. They can be harmful to the health and nutritional needs of the being.


 Exercise :


The reason exercise is important is because this is how your heart gets stronger. A stronger heart means better blood flow. If you spend 30 minutes, three days a week, working out, not only will you feel better, but your mental abilities will also improve. For exercise to be effective, it must be progressive, systematic, and habitual. The more you exercise, the stronger every part of your body will become. 

Water quality:


Water containing lead, often caused by the lead pipes used in older construction, can cause serious damage to the brain, kidneys, nervous system, and red blood cells.

Groundwater contamination occurs when man-made products such as gasoline, oil, road salts, and chemicals get into the groundwater and cause it to become unsafe and unfit for human use.

Bisphenol A (BPA), a chemical often used in plastic water bottles, appears to mimic the effects of estrogen and may interfere with hormone levels and increase human risk for reproductive disorders.


Sunlight:


 Sunlight lifts your mood, so try to get at least 10 to 15 minutes of sun per day. This can be done while exercising, gardening, or socializing.

Rest :


Maybe you have heard that children grow while they sleep. This is true. During rest, your body is able to grow and to re-build itself. The brain tissue is being restored and the nerves are re-charged while you sleep. If you skimp on sleep, your body does not have adequate time to re-condition itself and to heal itself. Getting the necessary hours of sleep each night is important to maintain a healthy body. 

Sights and sounds:


Our home and work environments affect our emotional as well as our physical health.

Among other things, research reveals that our physical surroundings can increase or reduce our stress, which in turn impacts our bodies in multiple ways.

Noise can increase stress, which over the long term can lead to disorders as serious as heart disease, high blood pressure, and stroke.
