10 things you don’t know about Mark Zuckerberg


Today is Facebook's 10 year anniversary. In celebration, we look at the life of its founder and billionaire, Mark Zuckerberg.

His full name is Mark Elliot Zuckerberg and he was born on May 14, 1984, in White Plains, New York into a comfortable, well-educated family.


 Color-Blind:


Mark Zuckerberg is red-green color-blind, which is part of the reason why the Facebook we know today is blue!


Favorite Book:


Zuckerberg lists "Ender's Game" as one of his favorite books. It's about a whiz kid who masters computer war games only to later learn they are real.


Interest:


Zuckerberg's interest in programming developed when his parents gifted him the book C++ for Dummies. Mark Zuckerberg began programming at a young age--when he was 12 he created a messaging program that his father used in his dental office, allowing the receptionist to notify him of new patients without yelling across the office.

 Multilingual:


Being able to read and write in five different languages - English, Hebrew, Latin, French, and Ancient Greek - means that Mark will never have to worry about blessing a sneeze, no matter what country he's in.


Tutor:


His parents even hired a computer tutor to work with the young Zuckerberg, but the tutor admitted that it quickly became difficult to stay ahead of his pupil, referring to him as a "prodigy.


Facebook:


Mark co-founded Facebook with three other college roommates and fellow students: Eduardo Saverin, Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes. Saverin was the one who offered up $1,000 capital money to get the company started.

First Car:


Zuckerberg's first car was a Subaru Forester SUV.

Salary:


Similar to Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg has a $1 annual salary as CEO of Facebook.


Rich person:

Zuckerberg is currently #10 on Forbe's list of the 400 richest Americans.
