5 Ways to get a Healthy Hair

Keeping your hair healthy requires patience and dedication. In addition to leading a well-balanced life, you must wash, condition, and style your hair with care. Invest in high quality products and tools that will protect rather than damage your hair. Take extra measures to protect your hair in order to maintain the health of your tresses.

Select nourishing products formulated for your hair type:

Hair products are specially formulated for different types of hair—always purchase products that are formulated for your specific hair type. Read the label and ingredients list carefully. Look for products that contain natural ingredients, such as avocado oil, honey, and or coconut milk. Avoid products that contain sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate, and isopropyl alcohol.

Handle your hair gently:

Damaged hair is very brittle, and it needs to be handled with care. If you're rough with your hair it can split or break, and it will look more frizzy than ever. Starting today, handle your hair with extra care, whether it's wet or dry. Here's what to do:

When you're applying shampoo and other products, use your fingers to gently pull the product through your hair from roots to tips. Don't scrub your hair.

Rinse your hair with lukewarm water, not hot water.

Don't wring out your hair or roughly towel it dry. Squeeze out the water gently, then pat it dry with a soft towel.

Don't flip:

Flipping your hair upside down and vigorously trying to dry it with a towel can be a hard habit to break. But doing so often causes split ends and damages hair. Instead, try applying a rejuvenating oil to replenish and strengthen your hair. We like Organix Moroccan Argan Oil. Apply it to your hair and scalp before you blow-dry it to create soft, silky hair.

Massage your hair and scalp with oil:

Massaging your hair and scalp with oil not only nourishes the cells and rejuvenates dry hair, but it also stimulates circulation, promoting hair growth. Slightly warm the oil if you’d like, and put it in a small bowl. Start at the top of your head, parting the hair and applying the oil. Continue this process until you've covered the whole head and the length of the hair in oil. Then take a few minutes to massage your scalp using your fingertips in small circular motions. Leave the oil in for 30 minutes (or overnight, if you desire), and wash it out in the shower. Apply shampoo to your scalp and hair BEFORE getting wet in the shower to remove the oil sufficiently. You can use this treatment once a week for shiny, soft hair.

Never use a comb on wet hair:

When hair is wet, it has the extra weight of water in it. Therefore, it stretches more and breaks easier, explains celebrity hairstylist Frank Galasso of the Barnes & Galasso Salon in LA. "A detangling brush has less tension and gets tangles out of wet hair safely versus combing through wet locks, which can cause damage."
